Welcome, and thank you for your interest in our new non ACGME accredited fellowship in Laboratory Medical Directorship combined with a Masters of Science in Business Administration at the Simon School of Business.
Residency training in the business and management aspects of pathology practice was identified as an area where improvement is needed in the ASCP’s 2020 Fellowship and Job Market Survey.
To our knowledge we are the first institution in the country to offer fellowship training in the area of laboratory management and medical directorship.
Qualified candidates should be board certified or board eligible in anatomic and clinical pathology (AP/CP) (preferred) or clinical pathology (CP) and will take on the role of laboratory medical director at one or more of the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) regional labs under the direct supervision and guidance of the URMC Director of Regional Laboratories and regional faculty.
They will also be enrolled in a part-time MS program at Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester that is focused on healthcare related business administration.
Additional opportunities to participate in subspecialty surgical pathology sign-out, teaching, and research will be available.
This innovative hands on program will prepare participants to take on administrative roles and become our future pathology leaders.
If you would like to know more about this new and exciting program or have any questions please feel free to contact us.
