Pediatrics / Cardiology Fellowship / Curriculum

Doctor and child The general approach is one of apprenticeship. The intention of the program is to provide a structured approach to training in which fellows are given increasing responsibility commensurate with their ability. The primary responsibility for patient care gradually shifts to fellows as they gain more experience. This gradual increase in responsibility is supervised by the attending cardiologists who work directly with the fellow on the clinical services.

Our three-year fellowship program is flexible and can be tailored to the background and interests of each fellow. In general, however, the first year is devoted primarily to developing clinical interests. The second year emphasizes enhancement of clinical non-invasive and invasive skills and basic science or clinical research. The third year focuses on research interests while maintaining an appropriate level of clinical activity.
