I am a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital. I provide care to girls and young women with complex problems of the reproductive tract, as well as, healthy girls and teens. I strive to educate young women about their bodies and empower them to take charge of their health care. I also strive to educate the next generation of Ob/Gyn physicians in the subspecialty of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

We had a life changing visit with our physician, Dr. Katrina Nicandri. She helped us get a diagnosis that has taken over 2 years and 2 dozen doctors' appointments to get to. This visit was for my 6 year old daughter, and while the diagnosis was new and devastating to us we felt empowered with the treatment plan, education, empathy, and anticipatory guidance we were provided with at our visit. I am eternally grateful to have access to physicians like Dr. Nicandri who support female health and wellness throughout the life cycle. She is literally the only physician in our region able to see and diagnosis complex gynecological processes of school age children. My daughter has suffered with pain and itching for years and it has dramatically affected her quality of life and her ability to participate in learning activities in school. Because her disease process was going on for so long without a diagnosis our school was beginning to pass off her complaints as psychosomatic. I can't tell you how difficult that has been. Dr. Nicandri is an absolute treasure and her efforts to continue her education and bring Integrative Medicine to her patients should be acknowledged and celebrated.
