Dr. Kothari has clinical expertise in interventional endoscopic ultrasound, diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP, intraluminal stent placement, esophageal endotherapy for Barrett's esophagus, Achalasia, Zenker's myotomy, and pancreatic-biliary disorders. His various research interests include fistula closure, per oral endoscopy myotomy (POEM), Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and new device innovation.

He leads the Bariatric Endoscopy Program at Strong Memorial Hospital. He performs intragastric balloon placement, revision procedure for gastric bypass like endoscopic outlet reduction.

Dr. Truptesh H. Kothari is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Director of the Developmental Endoscopy Laboratory at the University of Rochester (DELUR). Dr. Kothari earned his medical degree at M.R. Medical College in Karnataka, India and received his master's degree in Clinical Sciences from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Bronx VA program in New York City and a Hepatology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He pursued his Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Dr. Kothari has also completed interventional endoscopy training at Fox Chase Cancer Center–Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
