I am a Family Medicine Doctor. I completed my fellowship in Maternal Child Health at University of Rochester Medical Center and my residency in Family Medicine at MedStar Franklin Square. I received my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University
Philosophy
I believe in helping to inspire my patients to meet their individualized health care goals. I find it a privilege to be able to care for multiple members of the same family. I especially believe in providing a supportive environment for maternity care services and celebrating the arrival of
the newest members of the family.

Outside of medicine I enjoy hiking, biking around town, and spending time with my growing family.

Dr. Shaw did not make me feel rushed. He took time to ask questions, get to know me and gave me understanding of how the practice runs. He was a great listener and gave any concerns he had with etiquette.

I have recommended Dr. Shaw to many people and even got my husband to see him - my husband did not like his previous PCP and when we moved [...], he needed a new PCP. Now that he has met and been seen by Dr. Shaw, he is no long afraid to go to the doctor. I hope this speaks volumes about Dr. Shaw's ability to listen to his patients, he's judgement-free, he seems 100% focused on the patient at hand, and he doesn't feel rushed. I truly feel lucky to have found him. If he were to switch to another medical practice, I would probably go with him... Even though the rest of my medical care team is at UR.

Dr. Shaw is outstanding - takes time to listen, explains the care plan well. He is very compassionate but also reasonable in care recommendations. I've had doctors in the past who are quick to judge - Dr. Shaw does not do this. I am very happy I have him in my corner.

While this had been my first visit to get to know one another, I really appreciated that he did listen and the small things I did bring up he immediately asked more questions and chose to do testing to rule out any possible concerns while my previous usual doctors in the past often noticed something didn't seem right but never tested it. I did like that Dr. Shaw was open to listen to my family and was understanding when I mentioned I do not do well with medications

Dr. Shaw is a breath of fresh air! I didn't think caring Doctors with an amazing bedside manner existed anymore. Sick or for a physical, I actually look forward to seeing my PCP. He is kind and takes the time to listen. Priceless.

Dr Shaw was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Made me feel at ease, provided treatment for neuropathy that former doctor didn't feel was necessary. So lived w/worsening symptoms until I changed practices. Should have done it sooner!!!

Dr. Shaw was great, he asked questions indicating he genuinely cared about me as a person. He took time to answer any questions I had and I never felt rushed at all during the appointment. I was very impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of everyone In the office. I was pleasantly surprised that the appointment was right on time and I did not wait very long at all between being checked In, seen by the nurse, and seen by Dr. Shaw.

This was my first visit with Dr. Shaw, and I could not have been more pleased. My previous care team was more concerned about numbers; I do not believe that they would know my name--nor recognize me--if we met on the street. Dr. Shaw was incredibly, refreshingly personable: an excellent listener with excellent eye contact. He spent a solid 45 minutes with me, and was eminently respectful of my thoughts about preventive screenings, and death-and-dying. Simultaneously, he was thorough and professional in addressing my physical health. I intend to recommend both Dr. Shaw and the Long Ponds Family Practice to friends who are seeking new providers.
