We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Rajasekhar Malyala to our Surgery team.
Dr. Rajasekhar Malyala chose his specialty as it was part of his training as a resident, and the combination of surgical critical care, and surgery on high-risk patients, and th dramatic improvement of successful therapies interested him.
Dr. Malyala believes that it is a great leap of faith for patients to put their lives in his hands and he is privileged to participate in patients’ lives, and hope to have them feel better, even if not completely cured of their ailments after being in his care.
He is familiar with the newer techniques of using organ care systems to preserve hearts for longer time periods, so that organs from far away or older hearts can be used safely. He has performed these procedures on many occasions and been a part of many dual organ transplants. While not unique, these are extra techniques to facilitate some of the high-risk cases seen in quaternary referral centers such as the University of Rochester Medical Center.
