Biography

Patty has a special interest in educating women with epilepsy throughout their lifetime and also providing the much needed support they need throughout their pregnancy.

She previously worked as a staff nurse at Park Ridge Hospital on the Geriatric-Neurological Rehabilitation Unit. She has worked at URMC since 1986 as a staff nurse on medical floors, the medical ICU, and the Medicine Outpatient Department. In 1997 she began working as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in the General Neurology Unit and has worked with the Strong Epilepsy Center since 1998.

Patty currently provides care to Strong Epilepsy Center patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She works collaboratively with other health team members in providing excellence in comprehensive care to patients and caregivers of patients with epilepsy. She admits and follows patients admitted into the hospital for video EEG long-term monitoring and provides care across the continuum to patients in the outpatient setting through clinic visits and telephone management.

She is a Clinical Associate at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. She has lectured on the topic of epilepsy at the graduate level at the University of Rochester, The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Rochester, The American Epilepsy Society Annual Meetings at special interest group meetings, as well as many community organizations. She served as a member of the Professional Advisory Board at the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Rochester from 2000-2003. She was the president of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses from 2003-2004. Patty is a member of the American Epilepsy Society, the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York .

Patty has a special interest in educating women with epilepsy about pregnancy issues and providing throughout pregnancy. She also has an interest in providing epilepsy self-management skills to patients and caregivers of patients with epilepsy.

She has presented at local and national meetings including The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Rochester, The American Epilepsy Society, The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State, and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. She has served as a member of the Professional Advisory Board at the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Rochester and as president of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Patty is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Neurology..
