Biography

Professional Background

Ben Gigliotti received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Rochester, where he stayed on to train as a resident in Internal Medicine and to subsequently serve as chief resident. He completed his fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and then returned to the University of Rochester to join the faculty in the Endocrine Division.
Dr. Gigliotti's clinical interests are in general endocrinology and internal medicine, including diabetes and thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and reproductive diseases. He has a particular interest in the care of patients with thyroid disorders, including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and other endocrine cancers and hereditary syndromes. His research focus is on the bench-to-bedside development of novel treatments and combination regimens for patients with advanced thyroid cancers, including the use of small molecule inhibitors and immunotherapies, and studying the role of molecular and microenvironmental profiling to inform therapy. He has a strong interest in medical education and in training the next generation of medical students, residents, and fellows.
