About Me

Dr. Gigliotti is a dedicated proponent of Engel and Romano's "Biopsychosocial model" and believes strongly in the value of longitudinal relationships and in caring for the whole patient, not just their disease(s).

Dr. Ben Gigliotti received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Rochester, where he stayed on to train as a resident in Internal Medicine and to serve as chief resident. He completed his Endocrinology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital with a strong focus in thyroid disorders thanks to mentorship from the MGH Thyroid Unit. In 2018, he returned to the University of Rochester to join the faculty in the Endocrine Division and Department of Medicine.

Dr. Gigliotti is an academic clinical Endocrinologist/Thyroidologist and is the director of URMC's Wolk Thyroid Clinic. He has a passion for caring for patients with thyroid disorders, including thyroid cancers across the risk and age spectrum, thyroid nodules (including performance of fine needle aspiration biopsy), hyperthyroidism, and hypothyroidism, along with parathyroid/metabolic bone disorders and endocrine cancers and hereditary cancer syndromes. He also cares for patients with diabetes, adrenal, pituitary, and reproductive diseases. He is privileged to work in a close multidisciplinary team at the University of Rochester with dear colleagues and friends in endocrinology, endocrine surgery/otolaryngology, nuclear medicine, medical oncology, and radiation oncology.

Dr. Gigliotti's primary academic focus is medical education, and he is deeply committed to training the next generation of medical students, residents, and fellows. He is currently serves as Block Leader for the Endocrinology disease block (in the 2nd year medical student "Disease Processes and Therapeutics" course).

Dr. Gigliotti is an active member of the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, serving on various national committees. He serves on the editorial board of the journal Thyroid.
