After earning her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Vitek completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She returns to Rochester following a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. As the Director of the Strong Fertility Center's Fertility Preservation Program, established in 2009, she is expanding this program to provide fertility preservation options for individuals facing loss of fertility due to cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation. She is editor of the "Textbook of Oncofertility Research and Practice". Dr. Vitek's extensive experience includes infertility treatments of all types, including ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination and in vitro fertilization . Dr. Vitek's research interests include infertility treatments in obesity, PCOS, fertility preservation and adolescent reproductive issues.
