Dr. Campagna chose Thoracic Surgery because of his interest in the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the chest. These conditions often require multi-disciplinary, complex care from a team of specialized physicians and surgeons. Dr. Campagna believes thoracic surgeons are privileged to help patients conquer these circumstances, often making an immediate and long-term impact on their lives.

Dr. Campagna was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. His medical education began at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Campagna completed a General Surgery residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. His training included a postdoctoral research fellowship, where he focused on clinical outcomes and translational device applications in patients with functional esophageal disorders. He also took interest in surgical education and obtained a Masters in Medical Education to further develop his aptitude in the field.

Dr. Campagna completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship at University of Michigan. During this time, he trained extensively in robotic thoracic surgery and obtained a thoracic robotics certification from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS).
