Professional Background

Dr. Heather Busick is an internal medicine and pediatrics physician at URMC’s Complex Care Center, where she cares for adults with significant childhood-onset medical conditions. She’s also URMC’s Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, a role that, coupled with her Complex Care Center hat, has strengthened her interest in how health disparities can be driven by social determinants of health. Most recently, Dr. Busick has leveraged her passion for health equity as the program owner for the Health Equity & Anti-Racism Technology (HEART) Program, which seeks to provide clinicians and staff with tools to screen, view and address social determinants of health using our electronic health record.
