Professional Background

Susanne Miedlich received her medical degree from Leipzig University, Germany. She completed a residency training in Internal Medicine both at the Leipzig University Hospital and at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, MI, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Rochester after which she joined the department as faculty.

Dr. Miedlich's clinical interests are in general endocrinology, including diabetes, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary diseases as well as hormone therapy for transgender patients. She is particularly passionate about developing successful lifestyle behaviors as well as utilizing medical and surgical therapies to tackle obesity. In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Miedlich has a solid background in basic science related to GPCR and steroid receptor signaling with her research published in a number of peer-reviewed journals such as JBC and Endocrinology.
