Dr. Barford specializes in the non-surgical and interventional management of knee, hip, and shoulder pain in adults. Dr. Barford specializes in the non-surgical and interventional management of knee, hip, and shoulder pain in adults. He is a physiatrist, or physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, with additional training in performing ultrasound guided joint procedures. He utilizes conservative and physical rehabilitation measures in combination with injections to provide long-term non-surgical management of large joint disorders such as knee arthritis, meniscus tears, IT band syndrome, hip arthritis, hip bursitis/tendinitis, shoulder arthritis, frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement/bursitis, and rotator cuff disorders.

Dr. Barford earned his medical degree from A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. He completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth in Cleveland, Ohio, then completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. He is specialty board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at URMC. He currently serves as chief of the Musculoskeletal Medicine division as well as Associate Director of Informatics for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
