I attended Colgate University for undergraduate education and graduated with honors in molecular biology. I then spent two years as an IRTA research fellow at the National Institutes of Health. While there, my research focused on identifying mutations in tumor suppressor genes associated with hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor syndrome as well as investigating methods to improve the CRISPR-Cas9 system for genome editing. I also participated in research focused on understanding the neuronal/molecular pathways responsible for pruritogen response. After that I spent one year as an ORISE research follow at the FDA where I investigated the role of epigenetics in the process of tumorigenesis - with particular emphasis on miRNA expression and DNA methylation patterns. I spent the following four years earning a medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. There I received the Benjamin H. Kean Travel fellowship in Tropical Medicine and participated in research targeted at developing a vaccine for dengue fever. After graduating, I completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at the University of Rochester. I am currently board certified in Internal medicine and working in the ED observation unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.
