Preceptorships

Thank you for contacting us at URMC Sovie Center for Advanced Practice.  We are committed to ensure students a supervised clinical practice, and educating students to deliver care as a member of a health care team. We have NP and PA students from all over the United States seeking clinical rotations with our expert clinicians. Currently, our first obligation is to organize preceptors for the students at our academic affiliation. We are willing to attempt to assist you with a clinical rotation. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a placement. Your school must have an agreement with URMC to have a clinical at one of our sites. Your school and clinical coordinator will need to make sure your agreement is up to date.

Shadows

Student shadowing is a one-time observational experience offered ONLY to college-level students, age 18 years or older. This experience is limited to a maximum of 8 hours. Before a student can shadow, you must have already arranged an Observational Coordinator (sponsor). This individual, along with the scheduled date of observation, must be identified. Please contact Jamie_Feingold@urmc.rochester.edu with your information and sponsor’s name. We will send you the appropriate paperwork for the shadow which needs to be completed before this observational experience.

We are unable to accommodate any shadow experience for High School students or minors. You can contact Friends of Strong for volunteer opportunities or URMC Nursing Recruitment for sponsored events for local high school students.
