Music Therapy Internship
Music Therapy Internship
The Music Therapy Internship is designed to provide a wealth of experience within the medical setting, structured around patient and caregiver needs. Interns will be expected to work alongside interdisciplinary staff, learning how to provide patient-directed, meaningful, and purposeful services as a team, while building quality working relationships with colleagues.
The Music Therapy Intern’s hours will be flexible, providing mindful consideration of the Intern’s needs. However, to obtain the hours needed for board certification and to meet the needs of the internship, hours will need to be consistent.
- Work hours are dependent on the primary population(s), though typically Monday-Friday for 8.5 hours per day (including a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks). Some evening and weekend needs may arise. If so, weekday hours will flex. Options for flexible hours can be discussed.
- Interns work a total of 40 hours per week until they achieve the required 1040 cumulative hours.
- Five personal days, including sick days, are allotted throughout the internship, in addition to University Holidays, which include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
- The internship pays a stipend of $5000 (to be distributed throughout the internship).
- The Intern can also receive up to $500 toward continuing education (i.e., conference attendance), to be used during the internship.
- A parking permit will be covered by the internship program.
- Housing and meals are not provided.
