Thank you for your interest in one of the nation's premier General Surgery residency training programs. Since 1927, the University of Rochester Medical Center has helped develop outstanding surgeons.

Our General Surgery Residency Program rests on the three-part foundation of practical Clinical experience, a thorough and up-to-date Curriculum, and meaningful Research.

We invite you to see whether our program is right for you.

Welcome To Our Program

Rabih Salloum MD

Rabih M. Salloum MD, MPH

The General Surgery Residency Program is designed to develop exceptional, well-rounded, and professionally sought-after leaders in surgery. Our integrated five-year training program offers a unique exposure to a broad based surgical practice, complemented by both basic science and clinical research. This helps achieve an unparalleled level of excellence in all aspects of the care of the surgical patient. All of our graduates are exposed to basic science, clinical investigation and a comprehensive practical experience (including a robust robotic curriculum), therefore providing patients with cutting edge surgical care.

I am delighted to be associated with this fine program, and I'm confident you will be too. Our program is thorough and our standards are rigorous. The men and women who graduate from our General Surgery Residency Program are commonly recognized as being among the finest surgeons in the United States. In addition, the overwhelming majority of our graduates, who have sought subspecialty training, have been able to secure the most competitive fellowships in the country.

If there is anything you would like to know more about, or if you have any questions, after examining the information that's provided here, please feel free to contact us. We appreciate your interest in the University of Rochester General Surgery Residency Program.
