Visiting Students Instructions & Application
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (URSMD) will offer onsite visiting student rotations for the 2022-23 academic year starting June 6, 2022. Visiting students will need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and rotations are subject to availability and department approval. Visiting students must be final year medical students in good academic standing from an LCME accredited medical school or osteopathic school in the U.S. or Canada. All visiting rotations are coordinated through the AAMC’s Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO). For a description of electives offered at URSMD please see our Clinical Course Catalog
Dental students please contact the Medical School Registrar’s Office.
Application Process
Applicants must apply through VSAS, the Visiting Student Application Service at The AAMC Website applications may be submitted through VSLO starting in April.
The VSAS application must include:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Current transcript
- Criminal background check
- The University of Rochester Health History and Immunization Form
- Health insurance card
- Proof of malpractice insurance held by the home school
- School issued email address
- Photograph
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
Enrollment in most electives is limited and therefore priority is given to Rochester students. It is to your advantage to give alternative choices/dates.
There is a non-refundable processing fee of $100 per approved elective payable to:

Housing
Please note that the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry does not provide housing for visiting students. You are responsible for finding your own housing for the duration of your stay.
