AUGUST 2025: Active Shooter Survivor Stories

RECORDED ON: August 12, 2025
DESCRIPTION: Hear first-hand accounts from people involved in our nation’s most infamous active shooter attacks:  2018 Parkland High School Shooting, 2017 Las Vegas Harvest 91 Attack & 2012 Aurora Movie Theater Shooting.
A live virtual panel of actual responders and survivors will share personal accounts of response, survival, and recovery.  When there is breaking news of a shooting, all of society tunes in. But news outlets mostly focus on the initial response and immediate aftermath. Seldom do we hear the personal – often heroic – accounts of those who were actually there. This virtual session offers a rare glimpse into the challenges faced by actual responders and survivors, but its ultimate goal is to promote resilience and recovery.
PANELISTS:
- Debbie Bowermen, RN in Sunrise Hospital ED during Las Vegas Harvest 91 attack. Sunrise received over 200 GSW patients in less than one hour (largest active shooter event in world history).
- Mike Moser, Deputy Fire Chief, Parkland, Florida: Moser was the Fire/EMS Commander at 2018 Marjory Stineman Douglas High School (largest high school shooting in US history).
- Jad Lanigan, Law Enforcement Incident Commander at 2012 Century-16 movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado (at the time, it was largest shooting in US history)
- Farrah Soudani, most seriously injured survivor at movie theater shooting in Aurora

RECORDED ON: November 18, 2025
DESCRIPTION:
