MARCH 2023: Emergency Planning and Preparedness for Persons With Disabilities & Access and Functional Needs - PART II

DESCRIPTION: WR/FLRTC has partnered again with Niagara University's Emergency Management Disability Awareness Program to provide a customized training for the Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition.  The purpose of the training is to educate and sensitize emergency medical service, emergency management personnel, and those with a responsibility in healthcare emergency preparedness on equality and disability issues within the diversity spectrum. This training is recognized by the New York State Office of Emergency Management and the New York State Emergency Managers Association for its quality and content in educating individuals with responsibilities in emergency planning, preparedness, response, and recovery specific to person with disabilities and access and functional needs.  PART II Training will build on the content covered in PART I (recording available HERE) and will include, but not be limited to:
-Cultural competency (revisited and expanded) specific to emergency planning and access and functional needs
-Introduction to the FEMA CMIST model
-Defining Network of Supports, Personal Support, and Partner Network
-Disabilities defined in the context of emergency planning, preparedness, response, and recovery
-Understanding the concept of universal accessibility

MAY 2023: Planning Considerations for Active Shooter Events in a Healthcare Setting

DESCRIPTION: This session reviewed the operations and recovery from Tropical Storm Fred, which hit the southern portion of Steuben County on August 18, 2021.  The presentation reviewed details from the storm and focused on the recovery process that followed in the days and weeks following the storm.

FEBRUARY 2023: Cyber Security Response in Healthcare: Emergency Management’s Role

RECORDED ON: February 16, 2023 
DESCRIPTION:  MARO HTC at Northwell Health will provide a session on the current cyber threat landscape in healthcare, the regulatory framework for cyber incident planning and the Emergency Manager's role in cyber incident planning and response.  Best practices will be shared including how to integrate an Information Technology Cyber Incident Response Team into the hospital's Incident Command structure during an incident.
