daVinci® Robotic Surgery Highland’s two daVinci® Surgical Systems enable our surgeons to use state-of-the-art robotic technology to perform delicate surgeries through tiny incisions with unmatched precision. With the recent addition of a second da Vinci® Surgical System, more patients will have access to this minimally invasive surgery at Highland Hospital. The newest da Vinci at Highland has several unique features to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room. Highland is one of the few sites in the country to have an optional dual console and fluorescent imaging to allow doctors to better distinguish between malignant and normal tissue. In addition, it has an enhanced 3D, high-definition vision of the operative field with up to 10 times the magnification. Some of the da Vinci instrumentation also is on booms, giving doctors and staff more space. Highland was the first hospital in the region to offer virtually scarless gynecologic surgery with the use of Single-Site™ Instrumentation on one of its two daVinci® surgical robots. The Single-Site™ technique is more advanced than traditional four-incision robotic procedures. The FDA has approved the technique for benign gynecologic procedures as well as gall bladder surgery. Only a few programs nationwide are using single-site technology for gynecology cases. Learn more.
