Replacement of Transformers
Highland Hospital will be replacing its two electrical transformers, which convert power into the appropriate voltage for hospital equipment and lighting throughout the campus. The existing transformers have reached the end of their service life and must be replaced to maintain reliable power and safety standards. The replacement process will occur in phases.
A crane will be on campus from Friday, October 17, through Monday, October 20, for the removal of a transformer and to install its replacement. The crane will be positioned in the center of the hospital campus where the transformers are located. Because the crane will be away from neighboring homes, structures, and roadways, there should be no disruptions.
On Saturday, October 26, the hospital will move to generator power while power lines are being tested under the supervision of Rochester Gas & Electric. This is tentatively scheduled for 4:30 a.m. The generator sound resembles the sound of a truck engine.
You will be notified if there is a change in this schedule.
