Thank you to all who attended the special Patient Safety Grand Rounds this past December, featuring  Steve Kreiser, Partner, Healthcare Performance Improvement, Press Ganey Strategic Consulting,  a national speaker and expert on improving human performance in the health care environment.

New Medical Staff President Announces Initiatives

Joseph Nicholas, M.D., M.P.H., is the new president of the Highland Hospital Medical Staff. He is working closely with other members of the medical staff leadership team, Colby Previte, M.D., President-Elect, and Timothy Lum, M.D., Secretary-Treasurer, to make strategic plans for the next six years. A top priority is to enhance clinician-to-clinician relationships. Several initiatives are being considered.

Highland Completes 2018-2022 Strategic Plan

Highland is in a sound financial position with a reputation as a high quality, cost-effective community hospital known for patient- and family-centered, compassionate care and is well prepared for the future.

The Highland Hospital Strategic Plan for the 2018-22 period is complete and it sets the hospital on course toward continued progress and expansion over the next five years. The plan includes benchmark quality measures, growth in clinical services, new approaches to improve the overall patient experience, and initiatives to ensure employee engagement and employee wellness in a culture where all can thrive and provide exceptional care.

Family Medicine Physicians on Monroe County Task Force to Combat Opioid Epidemic

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo recently unveiled a plan to combat the opioid epidemic in the area and announced the creation of an advisory panel. This task force will be convened by County Health Director Michael Mendoza, M.D., who is also a Highland Family Medicine physician, and will consist of medical experts, including individuals from local hospitals. Holly Russell, M.D., also a Highland Family Medicine physician, will serve on the panel.
