To be a major hub for innovative, inclusive, collaborative research that transcends academic and scholarly disciplines to uncover new knowledge of how the environment influences health. We will leverage this knowledge to evolve new ways to dampen negative and bolster positive ways that the environment influences health.

The University of Rochester has long been recognized as a leader in research on environmental health. The Institute fosters synergies by catalyzing new research projects, promoting new collaborations, and creating new opportunities to share knowledge, new ideas and different points of view. The Institute also fosters sharing of services, facilities, and expertise to facilitate the next generation of cutting-edge research about how the environments that we live in shapes health across our entire lifespan.
