California Family Language Planning:
Your Child, Their Language

Families with deaf children are often faced with many choices related to language, communication, types of services and interventions, and much more. All of these decisions collectively impact families’ experiences and the outcomes of their deaf children. Our deaf-majority research team is very invested in supporting families and seeing deaf children achieve the best possible developmental outcomes.

We want to learn more about what families are experiencing such as the type of information they receive and what is important to them when they are making decisions. We also want to better understand how deaf children develop spoken and signed languages during their early years. We are asking you to give your time to complete surveys related to your early intervention experiences and your deaf child’s ongoing development over the next several years.
