Ethics in Healthcare:  Facing the Challenges Together

Location:  University of Rochester School of Nursing, Helen Wood Hall, 255 Crittenden Boulevard, Rochester, NY

Conference Objectives:
  1. Provide educational opportunities on a range of ethical topics pertinent to healthcare and clinical practice.
  2. Engage professionals from all disciplines in focused workshops that encourage group discussion and engagement in the topic.
  3. Improve outreach and communication about health care ethics within the Rochester community.
Call for Workshop Presenters

Guide for Workshop Proposals:  

Workshops will be 75 minutes in length.  Please incorporate opportunities for group engagement and discussion: this should not be simply a didactic talk.  Proposals should include: a title, 2 objectives for the session, and a brief overview of content and teaching methods.  The submission should be double spaced, 12 font and no more than 1 page long. Include your name, title, and contact information including preferred e-mail address and phone number.

Some ideas for workshops are (but not limited to):

  • Ethical concerns raised by COVID pandemic
  • Health disparities and justice
  • How to lead an effective debriefing session
  • Religion and miracles
  • Conscientious objection


  • Allocation of resources
  • Moral distress
  • Physician-aid-in-dying
  • Futility / non-beneficial treatment
  • Communication techniques
