Didactic Curriculum
Education is integrated throughout the fellowship year.
Weekly Indications Conference
Faculty, residents and fellows review upcoming surgical cases, discuss operative indications, preoperative planning, implant selection, and complication management.
Weekly Core Curriculum
Structured reading assignments and weekly concept review didactics based on classic adult reconstruction literature and current evidence.
Quarterly Journal Club
Regular topic focused discussions of landmark and contemporary arthroplasty publications.
Monthly Department Grand Rounds
Participation in Department of Orthopaedics Grand Rounds featuring faculty, residents, fellows, and invited national speakers.
Implant & Technology Sessions/Labs
Hands-on educational sessions reviewing:
- Primary implant systems
- Revision implant systems
- Surgical instrumentation
- Surgical approaches and exposures
- Operative techniques
- Robotics
- Navigation technology;
- Emerging arthroplasty innovations
Research
Scholarly activity is an integral part of fellowship training.
Each fellow completes at least one publication-quality research project under faculty mentorship with support from the Department of Orthopaedics and the Center for Musculoskeletal Research.
Fellows are encouraged to present their work nationally at meetings including:
- American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS)
- American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
- Regional Orthopaedic Society meetings including but not limited to EOA, NYSSOS, and MSSNY
