Employee Phlebotomy Training Program

UR Medicine Labs is pleased to offer a Phlebotomy Certification Course. This program leads to National Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathology.**

The primary purpose of the Phlebotomy Training Program is to fill open UR Medicine phlebotomy positions with qualified candidates. Updates will be posted when the application process resumes. Thank you.

This 6-week-long workforce training program includes 2 weeks of classroom instruction and 100 hours of clinical training.

Upon completion, graduates are no longer considered trainees and are eligible to fill positions in our UR Medicine Labs Outpatient Service Centers.

There is no cost to our trainees.

Program Details

  • Full-time paid employment with benefits for trainees
  • Weeks 1 + 2 | Orientation and onboarding
  • Weeks 3 + 4 | Classroom instruction
  • Weeks 5 + 6 | Hands-on venipuncture instruction
  • Eligibility for departmental and national certification in phlebotomy

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Computer and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy and customer service experience a plus
  • A professional reference
  • Reliable transportation
  • Good customer service skills
