Biography

Professional Background

David Kaufman, M.D., Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center, received his M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowships in both Critical Care and Medical Ethics from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Kaufman joined the Department of Surgery in 1993 and has been Chair of the first and second year Medical School Instruction Committee since 2006, Director of Bed and Bench Clerkship since 2005, and Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Until since 1999. His areas of special interest include ethics and infection control.
