About Me

Dr. Todd Holmquist is a Midwest transplant. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. While growing up in Richmond, Indiana, where he graduated from high school, his family often made trips back to the Twin Cities to visit family. Dr. Todd Holmquist is a Midwest transplant. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. While growing up in Richmond, Indiana, where he graduated from high school, his family often made trips back to the Twin Cities to visit family. He then attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he majored in biology and mathematics and played soccer. After graduating, he then returned to Indiana, where he subsequently completed a master's degree in biology at Purdue University and his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He moved to Rochester, New York in 2004 to pursue his residency training in neurology. Shortly after completing his training and joining the faculty, he was introduced to his wife by a mutual friend. He and his family currently reside in Pittsford, New York.

Dr. Todd Holmquist joined the UR Medicine faculty in Rochester, New York, in 2009 and is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology. He is board-certified in Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Clinical Informatics. He is a certified neurosonologist, lean practitioner, and Epic (EHR) physician builder.

He provides both inpatient and outpatient care for patients with cerebrovascular disease. He is actively involved with clinical research in acute stroke treatment as well as secondary stroke prevention. He is the medical director of the UR Medicine neurovascular laboratory and actively interprets carotid ultrasound studies. He is actively involved in medical student and resident education.

He is one of the Associate Chief Medical Information Officers and sits on a number of administrative committees in the department of Neurology and at the medical center. He specializes in neurology-specific Epic optimization and sits on the national Epic adult neurology steering board and AAN PM&T subcommittee.
