Dr. Dimitrios Michelogiannakis received his dental degree (DDS) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Dentistry in 2012. During his military service, he worked as a soldier-dentist in the Greek Army for one year. Afterwards, Dr. Michelogiannakis completed a 3-year specialty training program in Orthodontics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester; and received a Master of Science degree in Dental Science (MS) in 2017.

Dr. Michelogiannakis is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and a member of several dental organizations including the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association. He has been actively involved in academia and research, and has contributed several publications in peer-reviewed journals, which include scientific articles and book chapters. Some of his publications have been specially featured and made cover in highly esteemed dental journals. Dr. Michelogiannakis has received further certifications/training in the field of Orthodontics, such as from the well-respected Charles H. Tweed International Foundation, the Wilckodontics Certification in Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics, and the Clear Aligner Faculty Educator Workshop.

His research is focused on the influence of local and systemic factors on orthodontic tooth movement, translational research, and clinical studies regarding orthodontic treatment mechanics, patient expectations, and treatment outcomes. Dr. Michelogiannakis currently serves full-time as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director at the Eastman Institute’s Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and maintains a faculty practice limited to Orthodontics.
