Dr. Daniel Ryan Ziazadeh is an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Rochester. He was born in the state of Washington and raised in Michigan. He attended James Madison College at Michigan State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and studied abroad in Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Belgium, and the Netherlands. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School with a Master of Science in Pharmacology where he conducted research in Dr. Shaomeng Wang’s laboratory, working on target-specific novel small molecule drugs for the treatment of head/neck and hematologic malignancies. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Ziazadeh completed his surgical training in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Integrated Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. During this time, he developed a particular interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, structural and transcatheter-based therapies, and mitral valve repair. While in residency, he served as the Adult Cardiac Surgery section editor for the Thoracic Surgery Residents Association (TSRA) Literature Review. At the completion of his surgical training, Dr. Ziazadeh joined the faculty at the University of Rochester. Dr. Ziazadeh collaborates with industry and experts in the field of Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery to provide patients with the least invasive form of therapy to treat their heart disease.

Dr. Ziazadeh is married to a Vascular Neurologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center. They have one young son. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
