Biography

“I approach each patient with the understanding that, in many cases, I am meeting them at one of the worst points of their life. In these situations, patients often do not get to choose who takes care of them, but they expect and deserve compassionate and high- quality care.”

Areas of Expertise

• Traumatic injuries
• Emergency general surgery
• Surgical critical care
• Resuscitation of the critically ill and injured
• Trauma education and simulation
• Performance improvement
• Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA)

First and foremost, I am a “clinical guy” – my main job is to take care of my patients. But I also recognize the importance of scientific advancement. My main research interest focuses on how to utilize video review technology to improve trauma resuscitation and trauma team dynamics. I am also interested in rural trauma education and the use of simulation.
