The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is tracking on a rapid faculty and growth initiative consisting of a newly renovated 11 private bed acute inpatient brain injury neuro-rehabilitation unit opening in 2023 in addition to our current 20 bed CARF accredited acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.

In addition, a large part of our practice will now be located at the new state of the art ambulatory musculoskeletal building. Within the new surgery center we have our dedicated ORs and interventional spine procedure suites. We also have outpatient clinics operating out of the brand-new clinical tower as of fall 2023.

As we continue to expand the faculty and associated support staff, there are increasing opportunities to pursue individual academic, research and scholarly activities. The Department of PM&R is also an integral part of the University of Rochester's education mission. Faculty will have the opportunity to teach and mentor a variety of medical students, residents and fellows in multiple settings.

 

Pediatric PM&R Subspecialist at Strong Memorial and Golisano Children’s Hospital

University of Rochester Department of Physical Medicine & Rehab in partnership with the Department of Pediatrics and Golisano Children’s Hospital located in Rochester, NY are actively recruiting for a Pediatric PM&R Subspecialist with a primary appointment in the Department of PM&R and secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. 

We continue to track on a rapid faculty and programmatic growth curve supported by an approved newly renovated 11 private bed acute inpatient subspecialty brain injury rehabilitation unit opening in 2022 in addition to our current 20 bed CARF accredited acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.  This position’s role will have a component of program development consisting of building a pediatric rehabilitation service line from the University of Rochester’s Golisano Children’s Hospital, focusing on building the pediatric rehab consult service, admitting and managing children to inpatient rehabilitation pediatric beds as well as expanding our current outpatient pediatric PM&R faculty practice. As a joint appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, this role carries with it an opportunity for a percentage of clinical effort in general Pediatric clinical care, if desired.  This role carries ample opportunity to pursue academic scholarly activity and interests:  supporting the education mission consisting of teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students as well as the support to pursue research interests, interfacing collaboratively with the Golisano Children’s Hospital.  This position comes with a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Ideal candidates would be BC/BE eligible having completed either a dual PM&R and Pediatrics residency OR a Pediatric PM&R fellowship.


Cancer Rehabilitation Medicine Subspecialist

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and our NCI designated Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center located in Rochester, NY are actively recruiting for a cancer rehabilitation medicine subspecialist. 

We continue to track on a rapid faculty and programmatic growth curve supported by an approved newly renovated 11 private bed acute inpatient subspecialty brain injury rehabilitation unit opening in 2023 in addition to our current 20 bed CARF accredited acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. This position’s role will have a component of program development consisting of building a cancer rehabilitation service line from the University of Rochester’s NCI designated Wilmot Cancer Institute.  The clinical focus will be on developing a cancer rehabilitation consult service, admitting and managing cancer patients into inpatient rehabilitation beds as well as building a robust outpatient practice.  This role carries ample opportunity to pursue academic scholarly activity and interests.  This consists of supporting the education mission consisting of teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students as well as the support to pursue research interests, interfacing collaboratively with the Wilmot Cancer Institute.  This position comes with a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, with a joint appointment at the Wilmot Cancer Institute, and potential for a secondary appointment with Hematology/Oncology.

Ideal candidates would be BC/BE with fellowship training in cancer rehabilitation medicine.

 

Outpatient Physiatry in Beautiful Elmira, NY, Non-Interventional Spine, Pain Management and EMG

This position would also work closely with the Department of Neurosurgery as an outpatient physiatrist to work closely with Neurosurgical faculty members to provide clinical expertise and focus on evaluation and management of spine and pain conditions as well as to perform electrodiagnostic studies in Elmira, NY.

This position comes with a primary faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine Department of PM&R and secondary appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery.

Ideal candidates would be BC/BE with experience in management of spine conditions and performance of electrodiagnostic studies.  New graduates are also encouraged to apply.

 

Outpatient Physiatrist with Focus on Electrodiagnostics

The University of Rochester Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation located in Rochester, NY is actively recruiting for an outpatient physiatrist with clinical interest and focus on electrodiagnosis.  In addition, there is ample opportunity to pursue academic and scholarly interests.  This includes support of the education mission consisting of teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students as well as the support to pursue research interests.  This position comes with a primary faculty appointment in the Department of PM&R and at the University of Rochester School of Medicine 

Ideal candidates would be BC/BE with interest and aptitude in electrodiagnostic medicine.  Board certification in electrodiagnostics preferred but not required.  Interest and aptitude in the performance of electrodiagnostic studies with diagnostic ultrasound a plus but not required.  New graduates from residency and fellowship are encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates would be BC/BE eligible having completed a NASS accredited ISMM fellowship in interventional spine or ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Pain Management fellowship. Ideal candidates have a keen interest in teaching PM&R fellows, residents and medical students.
