URMC Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Welcomes Deklerk Ngankam, MD, August 2025

UR Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Deklerk Ngankam to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a board-certified physiatrist who specializes in Brain Injury Medicine.
He earned his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and subsequently a Brain Injury fellowship at the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute in Cleveland, OH.
Dr. Ngankam's clinical focus will be acquired brain injury, including spasticity, concussion, and posttraumatic headache, with an interest in outpatient care. In the future, he hopes to contribute to research that addresses the outcomes of mild traumatic brain injury and persistent postconcussive symptoms. He is also interested in community outreach and advancing medical education through mentorship.

UR Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Kaitlyn Chin to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a board-certified physiatrist who specializes in sports medicine and limb loss/amputation medicine.
She earned her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. She then completed her internship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. She then completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, followed by her subspecialty fellowship in Sports Medicine, at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab/McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.
She has provided sideline coverage for Northwestern University DI athletics, including the Women's Lacrosse team during their run to the NCAA National Championship Finals in 2025, along with adaptive sports, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and has served as team medical lead for SkyRise Chicago.
Dr. Chin specializes in non-operative management of musculoskeletal injuries in both athletes and non-athletes alike. She enjoys collaborating with her patients to support them in injury prevention, recovery, and maintaining an active lifestyle. Her clinical interests include adaptive/Para sports medicine, musculoskeletal diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, orthobiologics, female athletes, and limb loss/amputation medicine. Her current research focuses on the epidemiology and prevention of acute and chronic injuries in lacrosse players.
URMC Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Welcomes Maya Hatch, PhD, July 2025

UR Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Maya Hatch to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She comes to the University of Rochester via the Long Beach VA Medical Center and the University of California, Irvine, where she collaborated with biologists, health economists, and biostatisticians to investigate and develop functional outcome measures for upper extremity, balance, and postural trunk control conditions caused by spinal cord injury, neuromuscular, and neurological disorders. Dr. Hatch will continue her research here at URMC in these and other areas, as well as mentor other PM&R faculty, fellows, and residents.
Dr. Hatch studied at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and subsequently her Doctor of Biomedical Sciences degree. She then completed an Advanced Polytrauma postdoctoral fellowship at the Long Beach VA Medical Center.

UR Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Geraci to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He officially joins the faculty as a Clinical Associate Professor, and will teach and mentor our fellows, residents, and medical students. Dr. Geraci comes to the University with decades of experience in spine and sports medicine, and will pass on these skills, specifically in the physical rehabilitation and manual medicine treatments for spine and large joint musculoskeletal conditions, to the next generation of physiatrists.
