Nurse Residency Program

Nurse Residency program

About Our Program

In 2020, St. James embarked on a new innovative partnership with our affiliate Hospitals in an effort to support and prepare new graduate nurses to be successful independent Registered Nurses.

The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) is an evidence-based program designed to help ensure that nurses, within their first year of employment, successfully transition from student to nurse. The NRP provides an enriched experience with supplemental trainings and specialized education by subject-matter experts, in a formal setting. Meeting on a monthly basis, nurses and our NRP Coordinator discuss areas of concern, available resources, and celebrate milestones. St. James Hospital NRP Coordinator, Jay Monahan, PhD, facilitates monthly trainings and provides resources to assist Nurse Residents in navigating their first year of employment.
