The Esophageal Diagnostic Lab (Motility) provides comprehensive care to the adult inpatient and outpatient populations. Services are provided to patients within the Thoracic/ Foregut service who experience esophageal and bronchial disorders. The program provides consultation, diagnosis, treatment and research. Procedures performed include upper endoscopies, bronchoscopies, high resolution manometries, pH monitoring, stricture dilation and ablation of esophageal dysplasia.

Ambulatory Medicine consists of a General Medicine Faculty group and the Internal Medicine Resident practice. The practice delivers team-based primary care and comprehensive outpatient care to adults over the age of 18 including the geriatric population. The interprofessional team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, case managers, clinical technicians, integrated behavioral health services, social work and a dietitian. Team members provide care for chronic disease management, health maintenance and acute episodic care.

UR Neurology Ambulatory provides comprehensive care to patients with neurological conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and headaches. We deliver care at Strong Memorial Hospital Ambulatory Care Facility, Clinton Crossings, Pittsford and South Clinton Ave to pediatric- geriatric populations. ​Our specialized neurologic care includes, and is not limited to, continuity of care for patients being treated with long term, disease stabilizing, intravenous medications, botulinium neuromuscular blocker therapy to patients with headaches and movement disorders. We optimize and innovate team based ambulatory care to support the holistic needs of our patients to include psychosocial support, patient education and coordinating connections to community resources. Ambulatory Pediatrics provides comprehensive outpatient services to children, teens and young adults. Well child care, chronic disease management and acute care are provided using a holistic approach. There are three distinct areas of service including the Strong Pediatric Practice that provides Primary Care to children 0-21 years of age. Specialty Care on AC6 and at ERR includes Neurology, Gastroenterology, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology, General surgery, Cranio-Facial Plastic Surgery, HIV/Infectious disease, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Rheumatology, Teen/Tot clinic, Pulmonary, Endocrinology, Adolescent Medicine, Urology, Genetics, and Behavioral Health and Wellness. The Pediatric Treatment Center provides infusion services & procedural support for the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. This includes but is not limited to chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody infusions, enzyme replacement, blood product transfusions, apheresis, and immune therapy.

The Strong Fertility Center offers reproductive endocrinology care as well as fertility treatment. A complete range of fertility treatments are offered from medication and surgery through IVF, ICSI, PGD and sterilization reversal. The Strong Fertility Center also has Donor Egg and Sperm Programs. Support groups, and counseling are also available to patients. The mission of Strong Fertility Center is to improve reproductive health through patient care, research, teaching and community outreach.

Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology provides medical care to patients with Rheumatologic, autoimmune and allergic diseases. Full diagnostic services for skin testing, respiratory diseases and pulmonary function are provided for children and adults with allergic illness including injection immunotherapy. Adult Rheumatology services include comprehensive consultation, administration of IV medications for the treatment of systemic arthritis, diagnosis and treatment for a variety of rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous, psoriatic arthritis, and others.

The UR Medicine Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Program is a fully comprehensive program that offers services to adults with recent cardiac and/or pulmonary problems. Cardiac Rehabilitation is monitored exercise and educational program for patients from 18 – 90+ years who have had a recent cardiac event and have a qualifying cardiac diagnosis and want to improve their heart health. The Pulmonary Rehab program focuses on patients with COPD who have recently been discharged from the hospital. Both programs focus exercise, nutrition, and disease risk factor management/education to improve health/fitness and overall quality of life. The atmosphere is professional, extremely friendly/fun and appropriate for people at any health/fitness level.

This area services the adult inpatient and outpatient population for the surrounding area with basic diagnostic and advanced therapeutic techniques including upper and lower endoscopy. Specialties include endoscopic ultrasound, stricture dilation, stenting for strictures, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection, ablation of dysplasia, and multiple modalities for control of GI bleeding. The biliary specialists perform endoscopicretrograde cholangiopancreatography which includes sphincterotomy, cholangioscopy, lithotripsy plus biliary and pancreatic stents for primary biliary problems and pancreatic management. Hepatology patients are seen for management of liver disease pre and post transplant. The unit also has a fully equipped motility lab offering upper and lower motility testing, biofeedback, and hydrogen breath tests.

The Outpatient Orthopaedic Department provides a full range of services including Sports Medicine, Spine Center, Osteoporosis Center, Trauma, Total Joint Replacement, Pediatrics, Oncology, Foot/Ankle, Shoulder/Elbow, Hand/Wrist, Plastics/Micro surgery, General Orthopaedics and an Urgent Care program. Patients range in age from infant to geriatric. Procedure performed include surgical procedures of the hand, minor plastic surgeries and spinal injections. Imaging Science provides for radiologic needs of patients in the area.

The Pulmonary Lab services adult patients over the age of 18. Patients are seen in our busy clinic with a variety of pulmonary diagnoses including COPD, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Sarcoidosis, Interstitial Lung Disease, Pneumonia and other respiratory related illnesses. The lab performs all aspects of pulmonary function testing (PFT’s), including inpatients and outpatients. The procedure area also performs bronchoscopy, thoracentesis and PleurX catheter placement using moderate sedation. The bronchoscopies performed use the most advanced technology including (EBUS), Navigational bronchoscopy, stent placement and cryosurgery/argon plasma interventions. We also do some procedures bimonthly under general anesthesia. The procedure area also serves both inpatients and outpatients, including the intensive care units.

Strong Cardiology Associates and the Women’s Heart Program offers comprehensive outpatient cardiology services for adult patients who have known or suspected coronary artery disease, post cardiac events, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Echo performs exercise and pharmacologic induced stress tests and transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms on the adult population. Mobile echos are done throughout the hospital and there are several off-sites where both mobile echos and stress testing are performed.

Cardiopulmonary Stress Testing in on VO2 room primarily for patients with advanced heart failure or transplant. Exercise tolerance testing also performed. 

Infectious Disease Clinic

The Adult Infectious Diseases Clinic is one of the largest NYS Designated AIDS Centers in Western NY. This clinic serves 1,200 - 1,300 patients with comprehensive and innovative treatments. The clinic provides HIV/AIDS patients with availability to one of only 30 sites in the United States and 50 sites worldwide to participate in drug trials as part of the AIDS Clinical Trial Network, (ACTG). The clinic also provides care to people with various infectious diseases from around the world. This includes the new OPAT program (Outpatient Antibiotic Therapy). OPAT cares for patients being treated with long term IV antibiotic therapies after hospital discharge, which includes dosage control of medications. Clinic also supports consults for both, pre and post, organ transplant recipients.

The Children’s Heart Center provides cardiac and cardiovascular surgical care for children and adults born with heart disease or children who acquire heart problems. Procedures may include but are not limited to the following: cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, bladder studies, ultrasounds, vasectomies, circumcisions and other minor surgeries.

The Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) and Dental Service on AC4 provides a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services. We provide services to adults and pediatric patients. Some of our services include but not limited to; treating maxillofacial tumors (jaw and mouth tumors), including oral cancer and salivary gland pathology. We correct deformities of the maxillofacial skeleton and perform orthognathic and TMJ surgery. We offer reconstructive surgery for pathologic lesions and traumatic injuries to the maxillofacial skeleton. We perform extraction of teeth and placement of dental implants. We offer outpatient sedation and other anxiolytic methods for our surgical interventions to those patients who are medically fit. Our facial cosmetic services include Botox injections and fillers. The RN is an integral part of patient care on AC4 and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to care for patients having IV deep sedations procedures. This includes the patient’s initial appointment through the post-operative period.

The pain management division at the URMC Pain Treatment Center provides the full range of therapies available to treat patients with chronic pain. The Mary M. Parkes Center for Asthma, Allergy and Pulmonary Care offers a full range of advanced services for adult and pediatric patients with asthma, allergies and other lung diseases. Skin testing for allergy evaluations, pulmonary function testing to evaluate lung disease and the only Pulmonary Hypertension Program in Upstate New York, are at one convenient, out-patient fragrant free setting.

Occupational and Environmental Medicine

OEM provides contractual services to businesses in the surrounding area. These services include pre-employment history and physical exams, drug and alcohol testing, fitness for work testing, injury care, etc. SMH employees complete pre-employment screens and annual health updates through this program. Blood borne pathogen education is provided to companies at their request. Flu vaccine, Hepatitis B or other medication may be administered to employees at their work site by the nurses in OEM as requested by their organization.

Otolaryngology cares for all ages of patients from infant through geriatric. The practice is situated in a convenient, off-campus location in Brighton, New York. Offering free parking and easy access to bus lines. The pediatric specific office is located in Lattimore campus, near Strong Memorial Hospital. The Clinton Woods practice consists of sub-specialists in Allergy, Otology, Laryngology, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery and General ENT. The Lattimore office is dedicated space servicing the pediatric population. Nursing staff in both locations support patients through telephone management and patient education, focused on pre-operative education.
