Highland Breast Imaging — in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Coalition and the Cancer Services Program of Monroe County
— will offer free mammograms to women 40 and older who do not have insurance. The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 9 at Highland Breast Imaging, 500 Red Creek Drive, Suite 130. Appointments are required and can be made at (585) 487-3304 or (585) 487-3305.
The Highland Breast Imaging Center is dedicated to helping women meet their health care needs. It has been offering free mammograms for the past eight years and served hundreds of women who may not have been screened otherwise.
A Reiki practitioner will be on hand to give 10-minute Reiki sessions, and a nail technician will provide free mini-manicures. Parking is free and refreshments will be provided.
Women who cannot make the screening are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a different day.
Avice O'Connell, M.D., Director of Highland Breast Imaging, recently spoke to the Democrat and Chronicle about why these screening events are so important.
