Nurse Practitioner Rotation Opportunities

Highland Hospital, an affiliate of University of Rochester Medical Center, provides an excellent clinical learning environment for Nurse Practitioner (NP) students. This role offers hands-on experience in patient care, allowing students to refine their diagnostic, treatment, and communication skills. Under the mentorship of experienced healthcare providers, NP students will participate in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.

Highland offers a broad range of rotational experiences for credit towards a number of different NP certifications including Acute Care, Geriatric, Pediatric and Women's Health. For more details and scheduling, please work with your clinical coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments, including comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
  • Collaborate with supervising providers to develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
  • Gain proficiency in diagnostic tests, medical procedures, and therapeutic interventions within the scope of NP training.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Authorization from academic institution for clinical placement at Highland Hospital.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Dedication to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
