Introducing Junesung Cho, Nurse Practitioner

The University of Rochester Highland Family Medicine Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program is designed to help address the primary care healthcare shortages in the city of Rochester, Monroe County, and surrounding communities. Recent graduate Junesung Cho, MSN, APRN, FNP, has joined the DFM team.

Cho graduated from the FNP Residency Program and joined DFM in September 2024, along with Bryanna Patterson, NP, a past recipient of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York (NPANY) Region 2 Student of the Year.

“The Residency Program was beyond great,” Cho said. “I highly recommend the program because of the support and work ethic of the DFM team. Our work can be challenging, but we work together for the benefit of our patients.”

In her new role, Cho conducts physical examinations to assess patient health status and individual needs; provides patient education on disease-prevention strategies; promotes healthy lifestyle choices; and addresses acute and chronic medical concerns with evidence-based interventions and treatments, engaging patients in shared decision-making processes.

With a background rooted in nursing care, Cho brings to DFM four years of experience as a registered nurse. She previously served as a registered nurse at a 78-bed, long-term care/rehabilitation facility in Knoxville, Iowa. Cho delivered patient care tailored to the needs of geriatric populations and supervised certified nursing assistants, ensuring efficient patient-care management.

Junesung Cho earned a master’s degree in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Kent State University
