Family Medicine Has New Department Vice Chair: Anne Nofziger, MD

Anne Nofziger has assumed the role of Vice Chair of the Department of Family Medicine.

In the position since July 2025, Dr. Nofziger sees her role as twofold: to support the senior leadership team, and to support the needs of faculty at all career stages.

Both primary functions fit well with what Dr. Nofziger enjoys doing most and with her academic interests in clinical competence and professionalism, advancing quality in medical education, individualizing student and faculty mentorship, and comprehensive outpatient primary care.

“I look forward to working with senior leadership and contributing to the direction of the Department,” Dr. Nofziger said. “Playing a key role with faculty, including overseeing the annual review process, aligns well with my longstanding interests in mentorship and in helping clinicians do their best work.”

“I am lucky to have multiple responsibilities that I love to do, such as assisting in faculty development and academic advising for students,” she added. “Our students are the faculty of the future.”

Dr. Nofziger, who joined the Family Medicine faculty in 2000, directed the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry’s multi-modal phase assessment program until 2011, then served as director of the medical school's Primary Care Clerkship until 2020. Current roles include Associate Dean for Advising in the medical school and director of the Dean’s Teaching Fellowship for mid-career faculty at URSMD.

Dr. Nofziger received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine.

Tziporah Rosenberg, PhD, LMFT: Senior Director for Interprofessional Practice and Education

 

Tziporah Rosenberg is continuing in her role as the Senior Director for Interprofessional Practice and Education, a position she has held since July 2024.

 

In this role, Dr. Rosenberg participates with the senior leadership team, conducting annual faculty reviews, assisting with the faculty promotion process, and working with educational-program leaders to help harness synergies and increase interprofessional learning.

“I help to figure out what each person and each discipline within the Department can do to improve clinical care delivery and training and education,” Dr. Rosenberg said. “By leveraging peoples’ differences and complementaries, we can enhance learning.”

Among her goals are promoting high-functioning teams in clinical care and training and exploring partnership and collaboration opportunities among education leaders and learner groups.

Dr. Rosenberg is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine, the Institute for the Family, and the Division of Collaborative Care within the Department of Psychiatry. She earned her PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University and completed post-graduate Family Therapy Training in Medical Family Therapy at the University of Rochester Department of Psychiatry.
