Scientists of Rochester: Klem Road Elementary's Research Project

November 2011

Klem

Klem Road Elementary students meet with their scientists.

Fourth grade students from Klem Road Elementary conducted a unique research project in the fall of 2011. As part of her ongoing efforts to get her students interested in science, Mrs. Hoffend developed a project where her students learned about local scientists' background and research. She reached out to contacts at the UR and elsewhere to find scientists who would be interested in participating in this project, and the members of the Benoit lab were happy to help. Each student wrote an excellent report about their scientist, and many were able to meet their scientist in person in November, when the Benoit lab hosted their class for a demo day.
