Apple-Date Crisp
This dessert is a quick and delicious fruit-based. Dates provide natural sweetness and dietary fiber. Serve warm with honey yogurt or cranberry chutney for a hearty and comforting end to your meal.

Ingredients:
Topping:
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
- ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 1/3 cup chopped nuts
Filling:
- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (about 4 medium sized apples)
- 1/3 cup chopped dates
- 2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
- ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375ºF. Spray 8” or 9” square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine topping ingredients; mix well with hands or fork until crumbly. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with dates, honey, pumpkin pie spice and lemon juice.
- Pour apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and crumble the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until top is lightly brown and fruit is fork-tender.
- Serve warm with a dollop of honey yogurt (recipe below) or cranberry chutney.
Whipped honey yogurt: Whisk 1 cup of 2% plain Greek yogurt with 1 tsp of honey and 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract. Use as a topping for your favorite desserts.
