Happier Meals: Connecting Families through Cooking

Kathleen Wania, M.D. has focused her research on designing and testing novel approaches to enhancement of both health literacy and family cohesiveness. “Happier Meals: Connecting Families through Cooking” is aimed at testing the hypothesis that preparing and sharing meals together can educate children and families about healthy food choices and strengthen family relationships.

This project is ongoing and was funded by a grant from the CPAC Small Grants Program sponsored by the Pediatric Links with the Community (PLC) Program and Dr. Michael and Mrs. Angela Pichichero. Residents in the Pediatrics Links to the Community /Child Advocacy Resident Education Track perform community based projects  under the mentorship of C. Andrew Aligne, M.D., M.P.H., Co-director of the PLC/CARE program.
