Pulmonary Hypertension

URMC is the leading regional referral center for patients with pulmonary vascular disease. Patients referred from New York and northern Pennsylvania are seen at the Mary Parkes Center, a beautiful and conveniently located off-site location.

Dr. Jim White serves as the site principal investigator for the exciting phase III clinical trials in pulmonary arterial hypertension, including oral Remodulin and once daily tadalafil.

We are also actively enrolling in the national REVEAL Registry. The clinical trial efforts are capably managed by Karen Frutiger, RN, and Antonia Heininger.

We manage 30 patients on a parental prostanoid (Flolan or Remodulin) with an additional 100 patients on oral therapy or in clinical trials.

We work in close collaboration with physicians at UC San Diego to rapidly refer appropriate candidates for pulmonary thromboendarterectomy.

With our colleagues in cardiology, we provide a full range of evaluation services including right heart catheterizations when indicated.
