Research Enablement & Technology Consultation
Research Enablement & Technology Consultation
The Office of Research IT (ORIT) provides consultation services to help researchers navigate, evaluate, and implement technology solutions that support their work. Whether you are exploring a new tool, engaging with a vendor, or unsure how to approach a technical need, ORIT partners with you to clarify requirements, assess data considerations, and connect you with the appropriate resources across the University.
Features
ORIT serves as a central point of coordination, helping guide requests through any necessary approvals and reviews. ORIT operates as a research enablement service, helping shape and guide requests before formal review and implementation. We collaborate with IRB, ORPA, Partner IT, Privacy, Information Security, and Contract Management to ensure requests are appropriately scoped and routed, reducing delays and improving outcomes.
Our goal is to support well-defined, actionable requests that move efficiently from idea to implementation.
Get Started
Engaging early helps define requirements, reduce rework, and streamline downstream review. Submit a research consultation request, and our team will connect with you to discuss your needs and next steps.
When to Engage ORIT
We recommend reaching out early, especially if:
- You're exploring a new research tool, device, or technology (e.g., software, medical devices, data storage, or computing resources)
- You're unsure which solution or vendor fits your needs
- Your project involves data, and you need guidance
- You anticipate integration with institutional systems
- You want to ensure alignment before a grant submission or IRB review
What to Expect
Requests are reviewed within one week of submission. Depending on complexity and volume, full consultation may begin within three weeks. Early engagement helps reduce rework and keeps your project on track.
