About the Program

The Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center offers a one-year Fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care. The Fellowship is ACGME-accredited and fulfills requirements by the American Board of Surgery for Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care Certification after one year.

This Fellowship provides a flexible clinical year designed with clinical and administrative experience overseeing our newly constructed 25-bed Kessler Family ICU, our 12-bed Surgical ICU and the trauma/emergency general surgery services.

The Clinical Fellowship is split between the 25-bed Kessler Family ICU and the I2-bed Surgical ICU at the University of Rochester Medical. The program includes rotations in the Surgical ICU that provides care for liver transplant, vascular, major oncologic, burn service and several subspecialty surgical patients. Elective experiences on the Trauma/Emergency Surgery services are offered. The program provides electives in the MICU and the separate Cardiac or Pediatric ICUs.
