The Mission
Surgical Health Outcomes Research Enterprise is focused on improving the quality and delivery of surgical care through conducting accurate and meaningful research, while simultaneously promoting the development of the next generation of clinician researchers.
The History
Since it was founded in 2011, SHORE has maintained a strong track record of training future leaders in academic surgery. Our fellows and other trainees are highly productive and consistently contribute to high impact journals, present at international meetings, and collaborate with scientists throughout the world.
The Formula
SHORE believes in interdisciplinary collaboration as a means of improving quality and impact of patient centered research.
The Future
The next chapter of SHORE is about closing the gap between discovery and impact. We are building toward a research enterprise where advanced technologies, from real-time data analytics to precision surgical tools, accelerate how quickly findings reach patients and reshape policy.
Our goal isn't just better research, it's research that moves faster, travels further, and leaves no community behind. That means expanding our multidisciplinary collaborations, strengthening our pipeline of future surgical leaders, and deepening our commitment to equitable, patient-centered care on a global scale.
The future of surgery is being written now. SHORE intends to be a lead author.
