Annual Gala to Celebrate New Hospital in Old Hollywood

The Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center will be transformed into a scene from an old Hollywood movie for the 28th annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala Saturday, Oct. 24. Complete with a red carpet, a children’s hospital Walk of Fame, feathers and film reels, the premier fundraising event is a night for grateful parents, faculty, sponsors, and local business owners to gather in support and celebration of the opening of our new Golisano Children’s Hospital and its future. Last year’s event raised more than $700,000 for our region’s sick and injured children and their families.

Cocktails and a silent auction will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m. The evening will continue with dinner, a shortened live auction, and a performance by The Midtown Men: 4 Stars from the Original Cast of Jersey Boys. The Midtown Men are the first vocal group ever formed by the principal cast of a high-profile Broadway show.

“It’s going to be a wonderful, elegant evening,” said Jenni Ralph, executive committee member of the Golisano Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees, chair of the Gala, and owner of Wisteria Flowers and Gifts. “It’s the perfect way to celebrate our new hospital, to say thank you to everyone who contributed to making it possible, and to raise additional funds, allowing us to continue to provide the highest quality care for our region’s children.”

MucciMarty and Darcy Mucci are the event’s honorary chairs. Marty has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Paychex, Inc. since 2010. Paychex, its employees, and the Muccis have been long-term supporters of Golisano Children’s Hospital. Founded by hospital namesake Tom Golisano, Paychex was the first business to name a patient room in the new building. The Muccis personally committed to naming the Family Resource Library on the children’s hospital’s first floor. A medical librarian is available to help patients and families find accurate and up-to-date information about health care, treatments, and how to cope with an illness. The library also has books for children and teens.

“Golisano Children’s Hospital serves such an important need in our community, and we are excited to have the opportunity to be a part of its legacy,” said Marty Mucci. “Many of our Paychex employees have been impacted directly by the hospital, and Darcy and I are honored to support such a wonderful facility that has benefited their families.”

The Cabot Group is the presenting sponsor of the event for the eighth consecutive year. A 2010 Miracle Maker award recipient for Outstanding Commitment by a Corporation, The Cabot Group pledged to sponsor the Gala for 10 years in 2008. The real estate company, led by significant children’s hospital donor Mike Smith, continues to demonstrate what it means to be a community partner and has truly impacted the future care of our region’s children with its generous investment.

Tickets for the highly-anticipated event are $200 per person.
